Who is Packwoman?
My name is Jessica Pack and I teach 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies at a middle school in Cathedral City, CA. Currently, I teach in a 1:1 Chromebook environment supplemented with iPads. Recently, I was named 2015 CUE Outstanding Teacher, 2014 California Teacher of the Year, and 2014 Riverside County Teacher of the Year. On Sunday evenings at 8pm, I can be found participating in #CAedchat as a co-moderator.
I have several books available for download on iTunes, including "Digital Storytelling: Connecting Standards to Movie-Making." I am also a co-founder of www.appsinclass.com.
Currently, I live in Indio with my husband, Brandon, who is an elementary Special Education teacher. Together we have two obnoxious cats we adore and a plethora of mobile devices.
From Laptops to iPads to Student BYOD & Chromebooks
Having taught in the same classroom at the same school for the last eight years, you’d think that it would be easy to fall into a rut – not true!
The constantly changing face of educational technology has made my classroom a work in progress. From teaching a (24/7) 1:1 Laptop Program, to piloting 2:1 iPads and a student BYOD Program, the learning process and the tech my students and I use is in a constant state of evolution. My tech journey began with digital story-telling, gained strength with the advent of mobile devices, and now I’m on a quest to find the perfect balance of technology and pedagogy.
